As the Great Southern Bioblitz 2024 (#GSB24) approaches, we're excited to announce that over 82 areas across 21 countries are gearing up for this global event, which will take place from September 20th to 23rd. With participants from Eswatini, Gabon, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, São Tomé and Príncipe, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Australia, and more, this year's Bioblitz promises to be our biggest yet!
The Great Southern Bioblitz, or GSB, is an annual event where people across the Southern Hemisphere come together to document the rich biodiversity of our regions using the iNaturalist platform. The event is held during the springtime, a period of vibrant natural activity, making it the perfect time to observe and record the species around us.
Why Participate?
Participating in GSB is a unique opportunity to contribute to citizen science, learn about local biodiversity, and connect with nature. Whether you're an experienced naturalist or a curious beginner, everyone can join in! Your observations help scientists track species distribution, monitor changes in biodiversity, and contribute to global data that informs conservation efforts.
