Hi Team, PossumPete here,
I work as an environmental educator on the Great Ocean Road and have found it effective and memorable for the students to have an alliterative nickname. I did also study possums and gliders for years, living nocturnally and climbing trees, so the name has a backstory 😎🐭 I coordinate the Surf Coast GSB project in Victoria, and write some of the blogs on the page.
I love using iNaturalist for collecting my observations of biodiversity. During 2020 and the lockdown, I started 'mothing' every night, and have now over 1,500 observations of hundreds of species from my home. I never dreamed there would be so much moth biodiversity available to be seen in the driveway.
It is fantastic to connect with passionate naturalists from around the world, and look at the observations they make of their local biodiverstiy. Also learning some words in other languages is genial.
Cheers!
